Overview
Vero Animal Health Poliglecaprone 25 Sutures are synthetic, absorbable monofilament sutures composed of a copolymer of glycolide and epsilon-caprolactone. Designed specifically for veterinary surgical applications, they provide dependable short-term wound support with excellent handling characteristics and predictable absorption.
The smooth monofilament construction allows easy passage through tissue while helping reduce tissue drag and trauma. Poliglecaprone 25 provides excellent initial tensile strength, reliable knot security, and minimal tissue reactivity during the absorption process.
Its predictable loss of tensile strength makes Vero Animal Health Poliglecaprone 25 an excellent choice for soft-tissue approximation and ligation where temporary wound support is required.
Features & benefits
- Synthetic Absorbable Monofilament — Provides consistent performance with predictable absorption.
- Excellent Initial Tensile Strength — Delivers dependable support during the critical early stages of wound healing.
- Smooth Tissue Passage — Monofilament construction helps reduce drag and tissue trauma during placement.
- Minimal Tissue Reactivity — Designed to support normal healing throughout the absorption process.
- Reliable Knot Security — Provides dependable knot performance during veterinary surgical procedures.
- Predictable Absorption — Gradually loses tensile strength as the tissue regains strength.
- Low Tissue Drag — Smooth surface facilitates precise and efficient suture placement.
- Veterinary Focused — Suitable for a broad range of companion-animal and veterinary soft-tissue procedures.

Contraindications
Because Poliglecaprone 25 is an absorbable suture with relatively short-term tensile strength retention, it should not be used where prolonged or permanent tissue support is required. Use may be inappropriate in:
- Tissues subjected to prolonged mechanical stress or tension
- Procedures requiring extended wound support
- Applications where permanent suture material is indicated
- Patients with known hypersensitivity to the suture material or its components
- Procedures outside the indications specified in the approved product labeling or Instructions for Use
The veterinary professional should consider the expected healing rate of the tissue, the condition of the surgical site, and the required duration of wound support before selecting Poliglecaprone 25.
